gas smell from 2002 Mitsubishi Montero

We had a visible gas line leak repaired last summer. But now, even though we see no visible gas leak, the smell of gas is persistently noticeable around this vehicle, even when it's parked outdoors.

This vehicle does not get driven very often nowadays. Nevertheless, we'd like to resolve this gas smell problem. It indicates some leakage must be occurring somewhere.
