Well, if you plan to install a remote starter and you don't care about the security system you can read the code from the old BCM (if you don't plan to replace it) then get resistor(s) that will match it. If you plan to replace the BCM you can pick any resistance and then do the relearn code. Back to your new BCM, it can take up to an hour to do the learn. You have to keep the ignition on for at least 10 minutes at a time.
Poncho, I have a question for you. I have a 98 S10 Blazer 4WD 4.3 and my security light never comes on and it starts and runs fine. The problem I am having is that I believe that the BCM has a problem. My auto headlights don't work and my trip meter resets back to 0 after the truck has been shut off for about 20 minutes. I bought another BCM and installed it and now the security light is on and it won't start. I did the security reset deal and it still has the security light on and won't start. Re-installed the original BCM and it starts fine but still no security light on, ever. It doesn't have remote entry but I am planning to install a remote start and entry system. My question is what resistor value should I use between the yellow & orange/black wires to bypass the security, from what I have read I will need to do this for the remote start to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Ponchonutty , When tracing the wires for the PK2 problem , do you cut the wire close to the BCM or closer to the switch ? Also , when looking at my truck - 2006 colorado - the resistor in the switch is on the white/blue wire and the white/yellow doesn't have a resistor .
