2002 Blazer 4.3L V6 Coolant Temp Sensor Location?

Hey Guys,

Just popped a code P0128 coolant temp below stat set temperature. Probably a t-stat issue but I think that the coolant temp sensor is only about $15 so I would like to replace it at the same time since the cooling system will be open.

Does anybody know where to find the CTS on the 4.3L? Looked all over the intake manifold and around the t-stat housing and couldn't find it.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to spend that 15$ for a good fail safe stat.

That code is caused by engine not heating up as fast as it should.

Is the engine warming up normal and as fast as it should and putting out good hot air?

What is the running tempture on dash gage after 10 -15 minutes driving?

I show the engine coolant tempt sensor on left cylinder head between 2 rear spark plug.

That's right, I just replaced my CTS on my 4.3l jimmy. It is located on the left head directly in the middle. you can't miss it. A little tough to get to but not bad. I have a question though, I went ahead and drained all the coolant out when I replaced it, was that necessary, or could you get away with doing it without draining all the coolant?

NO, you didn't have to drain all the coolant. I would probably not drain any of it, just took the sensor out and replace it quickly as I could trying not to lose as little as possible, them refill as necessary.

That one is for the tempt gauge.
There is Also another one for the VCM/PCM computer.

No need to change or drain coolant with a tempt sensor replacement.
But the coolant should be drained/flushed and replaced with dexcool ever 50K or 3 years.
Instead if the GM /Dexcool instructions of 5-7 years / 100-150K
