95 Pontiac Sunfire 2.3L stutters

hi,

got a 95 sunfire with the quad engine..for like a year it would stutter upon heavy acceleration like you're running out of gas

in fact, when the car would sit for several weeks it would crank but not start....starting fluid would get it going --- we presumed she wasn't getting good gas flow (the car would run OK also if it had 3/4 tank or more of gas (or so it seemed)) so we finally got around to swapping out the fuel filter -- the existing filter looked fine so I was a bit skeptical after seeing that it was a later model filter and in good shape...

after swapping out the filter i took her for a test drive and she conked out under heavy acceleration -- if you're careful and baby her (very slow) she seems to do relatively well

when the car stutters the tach and speedo flicker and drop all the way then pop back (its like she is cutting on/off)

this would result in traction control light going off and check engine coming on

pulled codes and got camshaft pos sensor AND crankshaft pos sensor BOTH

BUT

I am not sure these are the culprits....
i found there was a recall on these for potential shorts in the key switch as well

i am wondering if the codes are correct or if they may be the result of some intermittent fault elsewhere???

also, if you all think that they are correct...do you have any idea where the crankshaft pos. sensor is located??
