You have to remove the fuel tank to get to fuel pump.
What is it doing or not doing?
Have you tested the fuel pump?

The pump isnt turning on when key is turned on...therefore truck wont start. I will test fuel pressure but 90% sure the pump is shot. Same thing happened to a friends 1500.

You can not match your problem with friends problem.
Do the proper testing before throwing parts at it.
Good luck

Yes. hahaha already learned that lesson! Just a fairly good place to start...the chevy's have that distinctively loud fuel pump when u turn the key to the run position...
I am going to test fuel pressure.
Besides fuel pressure, how can I test voltage...and so on?

Voltage and ground can be checked with a volt/ohm meter.
Fuel pumps should no be loud.
The only true test on a fuel pump is to check the direct fuel pressure from fuel pump.
A quick test is to block off the return line and see if fuel pressure comes up to 75-85 lbs.
But do not run the pump at full pressure very long.
Also when testing fuel pump and pressure you need to tape a gauge to outside windshield or outside mirror and drive it on the road for 20 -30 minutes
until the pump gets has run a while to check for a pump fading out after hot.
Hard to start cold or hot and fuel pressure testing guide lines.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
If pump has full pressure with return line blocked and low pressure without it blocked most usually the fuel pressure regulator is leaking or not holding pressure.
Later V6 and V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel.
Do not leave home without it.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak in system.
Post back fuel pressure readings.

There is also a fuse (ECM B) and a fuel pump relay in the underhood fuse block. You can check the relay by using a friend to turn the key to the RUN position while you listen or feel for a click in the relay.
If you hear or feel the relay click in and then click out after 3 seconds then check for voltage on the GREY wire at the pump connector under these same conditions. Also check for a good ground connection.
Yah it's probably the pump gone south but as MT-2500 says it's worth the time to do some trouble shooting to make sure.

When the key is turned to the on position i can hear a sort of click/hum coming from near the throttle body. it goes off after a second or two.
And which ground should i check? the ground under the truck in front of the tank where the sending unit connects? or is there another under the hood?

Fuel pressure was tested...got 0's everywhere.....
So i dropped the fuel tank and i tested the plug that goes into the fuel pump and its gettin power....but the pump doesnt turn on!

Make sure you also check ground.
If good ground and 12 volts to gray fuel pump wire and no run.
It is time to replace fuel pump.
Only replace with a delphi pump.
All others Airtex and after market will not do the job.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
