What year has been or is the best for the Mercury Grand Marquis? What year of Merc is your favorite and why?

Me? I must say 1987. This was my first car when I turned 16. Yeah that ol' boat was a dream. In my years of adolescent stupidity I put that car through major abuse. Yet she always ran like I dream. I miss that boat. Many fond memories in that car. Including meeting my fiance. Yes those were the days. That beautiful blue finish, plush seats, power everything and all the "getty up and go" a punk high school kid could want from it's 302. I still see her driving around town now and then. What I wouldn't give to have THAT car back. She must have 200,000 miles by now. What a car...

i have a 1990 grand marquis and although its not road worthy i still love it. I live on afarm with open fields and whenever i can i drive it around and it just gets the hell beat out of it me and my friends put it to real tests seeing how much snow it will go through, taking it of drop offs and guning er in the mud and dirt.. everything on the car is stock, i would spend money but i like to see how long it will last. ive had it for about 3 months so far and so far alot has broken, the rerar drivers side tire has a hole in the brake line, theres an oil leak somewhere and it drips onto the exhaust pipe, bolts and screws have been jared loose, the exhaust has seen better day. but through all of this its a real great car to boot around in

:sunglasse i think that 1979 was the best year so far. i have had many, 79, 82, 83, 85, 86, 89, 96, thay are all nice but the 79 A.K.A. PANTHER was the first to all these even to present. out of all the 80's car it had the most character of them all when you see a 79 you can identify it right away, center monting front plate with bumper grills, short tail lights, glass insert hood ornament, full vynal roof and much more, most of all because it is so rare, probally one of the rarest.

I like the 91-94 GM VC the best, due to Ontario's emission testing as these years do not get dyno tested due to something about the abs brakes. They curb idel test them as they would with fulltime 4x4's, since this test does not place a load on the car it's much easier to pass.

1949 Merc.. With the top chopped and the rear end dropped, it is hard to beat the way it looks. And the flat head v-8's could really take abuse, plus they were easy to hop up.
