I was driving my 2000 GMC C2500 and it ran out of gas. I put gas in and now its getting fuel but wont start. It is the old body style with a 350 5.7. Any ideas? Thanks.

How fuel pressure do you have at the rail, about 60 psi is required.

It is right at 60 psi, and it holds 60 psi when the pump stops.

Ok, will it start spraying carb cleaner into the intake, or try starting fluid.

Tried the carb cleaner and nothing. There was power to the distributor but nothing coming out. I checked the cap and rotor and they are very coroded. I got all the little metal tabs cleaned off and cleaned off the blade on the rotor and now it tries to start. Think I found my problem though. Dont know how it made it this long being so corroded. Thanks.

I have the same problem with my 1997. I end up replacing the cap & rotor every November. If it is the same as mine, it is a poor design. There is no seal or gasket and moisture gets in but won't come out.

And those plastic screw holes are only good for alignment now. I have to put a plastic tie strap around the cap to hold it on...

Use a brass lead cap and rotar and not a aluminum, last a little longer, same problem I had on a 88' GMC
