my daughter has a 2005 neon with a vibration, after replacing 2 torque mounts i could see where bad ive come to the conclusion it need the pass side center mount, the dealer wants a rediculous amount of money to replace it, is it true you have to remove everything down to the timing belt to replace it ? or is there a shortcut?:

you need to remove a few things but it's quite simple..you need to remove the upper and lower torque struts, the power steering pump and belt and the front bracket the timing belt cover can stay on...

i din't remove anything to replace the 2 motor mounts on the passenger side, however, the one by the transmision i took it to a mechanic.Don't be surprised if that one is perfectly working and vibration is due for who knows what!!! i'm at that phase and don't know what to do.I might get rid of that car.:shakehead

Just had all 3 replaced on 2003 Neon on the passenger side of the engine.
$490 for the center one alone.

Ok, no easy task but not imposible. I just changed both mounts and torque struts, the most difficult is the mount on the passenger side, so this is what a did. First take out battery tray, and intake box, Take out the torque struts upper and lower on the passenger side. Secure the engine trans with a rolling jack. Through the drivers side front wheel take out the bolt that holds the trans mount, and just loosen the one on the passenger side enough to lower the engine combo a little from the drivers side to take out the mount out. Level again the engine trans, and unbolt the passenger side, notice that now the engine trans is loose so be carefull not to damage any plastic parts, you dont need to unplug anything but the above said. Now as I told you carfully lower the engine trans in order for the transmision side to clear the drivers side compact frame and with the rolling jack move the engine asembly towards driver side enough to get the mount out. Its no big a deal, but it will take some time. It took me, about 4-5 hours to change it. The passenger side mount is the only one you have to buy, for the rest look for mount inserts and replace them, and for that you have to take the mounts to a shop, because in some cases you need a press to install them. Hope this would help.
