Hi, I'll be removing an engine in a 2004 dodge durango limited with a 5.7L hemi in it. The current one inside just blew a connecting rod out the side of the oil pan. Any information regarding removal of current, and installation of the new used engine would be greatly appreciated. I need to know more or less where to start first and what to do with transmission once I'm about to disconnect from the engine. Also do you know if I would lose any trans fluid once I disconnect the trans from the engine? If you have any info related to this matter please send what you have. Thank You in advance!:)

4x4 or 2wd?If it is the 4x4,the front diff has to come out and you can get to the remaining top bell housing bolts very easily after dropping it down.Book says to remove the transmission and it does not.I have done engine replacements in Durangos without taking the transmission out and you have to support the transmission with a floor jack when taking it out.

It is an AWD limited. I thought it would be a simple pull out and exchange, am I at least close to that assumption? Is there any other little things that I might be forgeting to remember while taking the engine out?
