Ok so i own a 94 honda accord ex and yesterday when i was driving it the oil light started blinking. Immediatley i drove to the gas station and topped it off with about a quart of 5w-30. I started the car back up and the light was off. Later that night i was driving home and the light again came on and was blinking steadily. I dont see any leaks anywhere but its been raining alot and its hard to tell and the engine sounds the same as always no wierd noises or anything. Would this just be a sensor or sludge build up on the screen, or could it be a bad oil pump or switch. The car has 253,000 Miles on it. I believe it was rebuilt around 100k because of an oil problem and the engine siezed up which i believe the manufacture had a recall on. Is there any common problems with these cars that causes this oil light to blink?

It could be all the things you mentioned but most likely it is the oil pressure switch located just above the oil filter. And it is the first place to start as it is the chespest other then oil which you already checked. O'Rielly/Kragen has them for about $6.00. The blinking is caused by a electronic timer which is supposed to get your attention over just a steady light. What fails in the sensor is the seal between the switch and the oil port. It allows oil to leak into the switch side so the switch diaphram cannot move away from its grounding point.

Alright that makes sence. I drove it today and when i first got in the car and started to drive it the light didnt come on. but when i would stop at a light and idle it would come on but this time it would blink rapidly, not like before, then as soon as i got going again it would turn off.

If the oil pressure switch doesn't fix the problem, I would move up to 10-30w oil.

was driving tonight and realized as soon as rpm dropped below 1500 it would start blinking then i would stop turn my car off, turn it back on and go and it would stay off until i again dropped below 1500rpms
