3.0 Aerostar engine block => Windstar

Good evening,

I have a crankshaft defect on my 3.0 96 Windstar and found a guy who might give me an engine block from 3.0 90 Aerostar, Is it possible to make such a change of engine block only? I know that the rest seems to be quite different for sure.

I would not expect it to work........as they most likely made a number of changes between 1990 and 1996.
I am not up on the 3.0L, but I know that there were LOTS of changes to the 3.8L over that time period.
The other issue is, was the aerostar rear wheel drive?.......I know that the 3.8L is different between the front wheel drive and rear wheel drive.
So, unless you can verify compatibility through some parts lookup, I would not try it.
A parts catalog would be the place to look

Take a look at the Rockauto website.....I came up with the same part number for the crankshaft, but different numbers for the long block.

thanks a lot, I've found the piston changes, block become stronger and output power increased due to these changes. I'll buy rather another Windstar...
