Take off coolant cap(when not hot)and run see if u can tell if there is a flow. Coolant level should drop when thermostat opens. Could have air in system, or bad waterpump. IF COOLANT IS MOVING YOU MAY HAVE A COOLING FAN ISSUE

I had the same problem with my girlfriends car. The fan would cut in but it would still get hot and then it would either stall or be very sluggish.

I changed the fan temp control switch and the engine temp gauge and it seems to be working better but still have a a minor overheating issue on really hot days.

You should also see if there is a bunch of dirt and bugs stuck between the tranny cooler and the radiator. I blew this out from the bottom and you wouldn't believe the crap that came out.

Well my 98 v6 doesn't heat up but my light for the coolant stay constanly on.

Water pump belt snapped
Caused my coolant reseroir to break
Caused car to overheat
I had to replace the thermostat, tempature sensor, reservoir, and belt.
Light turned back off for about a week and came back on after that. It will turn off sometimes after driving for 5 minutes. Any ideas
