Need to replace/bypass my "Transmission position" switch (Neutral/park start switch).

Anyone know where it's located? Thanks.

Its the part underneath where the shift linkage is attached to the transmission.

Thanks, I found it. Problem turned out to be the switch mounting bolts, rather then the switch itself. The two bolts were missing, which allowed it to move around.

Some time ago I had a Pontiac dealer replace a leaking oil pan gasket and front seal. Drove home and it still leaked, but not as bad. Took it back and dealer fixed it again--still no leaks after ~ 3 years.

Last year I was driving slow in a city and suddenly lost the power steering. Took a look and the belt was broken, along with a very loose alternator. Had wife bring my tools and a new belt to where I was, and fixed it right up. I bet the low-wage trainee-mechanic forgot to tighten them back up. Probably same thing on the other side (rear of engine) with the switch mounting plate. Two new bolts well tightened and the problem is fixed. Now it starts w/o having to move the shift lever in and out of Park a few times, and my backup lights work again.
