Problem with Passlock?

Strange thing occured this morning. My 99 Suburban 1500 2wd 130,000 miles would not start. It would turn over but it sounded as though it was starved for fuel. It eventually started but then I noticed that the word "SECURITY" was lit constant on my dash and I read up on it in my manual. If it is faulting I would like to pull the fuse, but the manual says it shares a fuse with steering. My mechanic pulled out the steering sensor about a year ago because the steering wheel would turn sharply in a curve for no reason. Do you think the reason my truck would not start is because of Passlock? I have not done a fuel pressure test and the fuel filter was replaced almost 2 years ago. Thanks for your help.

I have passlock problems with my Impala. I dont think your passlock it the problem though. When the passlock fouls up you wont be able to turn it over at all.

I realize this is going to sound crazy and too easy, however I got the idea from my son who repairs his own electric guitars. I sprayed WD-40 on my key and inserted it into the ignition the truck started with no problem and has been for several days now. When before it was not starting about every 5 cranks. I was having to leave the key on and let it sit for 10 minutes. My key does not have the chip on the outside. I figure if nothing else I bought myself some time. Good luck I hope it works for you.

If it is leave it on for 10 minutes that IS the passlock. If it cranks, like someone said, not it. If it gives you trouble it usually won't crank. The WD-40 trick works at times because it lubes up the tumblers within the ignition switch itself. The usual culprit is the sensor itself. They actually aren't hard to get to once you take the covers off the steering column. The worst part is that in order to do that you usually have to pull the steering wheel which can be a real pain without a puller. The old "prybar and a hammer trick", DO NOT do that, did that with a 2004 Trailblazer we had and broke stuff further down in the steering column. The passlock sensor comes with new tumblers for the switch, they are not cheap though. The difficulty isn't bad, but the expense is quite a bit....
