i think that nissan has known about getting rid of the RB series for a while as I just noticed on GranTurismo 3 in the description of the R34 GT-R V-Spec it said that it was going to be the last car featuring the legendary RB series engine I think that it is sad how all the manufacturers are getting rid of their best engines Honda with the infamous 'B' series engines although they kept the crappy 'D' series it have been smarter to make the B series the standard instead of keeping the crappy sohc D series and also another classic Nissan to get the axe is the legendary Sylvia and its great SR20DET although nothing has been said about the NA version the only old school inline 6 to still be in production is the toyota non-turbo 2JZ in the IS300 I don't see how it could be less expensive to design a whole new engine when they already have a superb and loved design that all they have to do is to get it to pass emissions

It just means they'll sell the RB rights and tooling to somebody else. Also, the new VQ series is quite a worthy successor, especially with aftermarket turbo additions. It's only a matter of time before they make a factory turbo.
As for the SR20, we mourn the loss of the Sylvia, and the turbo.
But hell, Mazda's making the Renisis engine, and wait till they put a turbo on that!

:   I think that the design of the new skyline is good as any car that stops evolving will be left in the dust. I dont like the thought of the RB going the way of the Dodo because of stupid emmissions. With its HUGE aftermarket support and engine internals second to only the Toyota Supra 2JZDETT. Although it dosent seem like the japanese have much enthusiam about it know its a GT-R for gosh sakes so they will make aftermarket parts for it. I think that the R35 or X35 or whatever they want to call it is starting out like the R33. At first the japanese hated it as it was heavier and larger but they then warmed up to its improved design increased torgue and electronics. I think that is what will happen with this one especially if it comes with 400 hp standard thats about the same as the Nismo 400R which cost over 100,000 dollars. As long as they can keep the price below 70,000 and the weight low, which looks hard especiall if they keep the huge reinforcing spline running down the center of the car, I think that the GT-R simply on marque alone could drive on the road to success. Also while reading EVO (no I don't live in the UK) it said that the wheels had air scoops in the spokes to direct air at the break rotors I bet those wheels will be a hot commodity if Nissan puts them on the production version. Also if you don't like the new GT-R there are always used ones.:p

the games not worth it. concept is like an sneak peek game. too easy and the handling is really sensitive. i would like it better if you can tune the thing but the only thing you can tune is the ride height, tires and the gear ratios
better if you wait for the next gran turismo.

I loved GT2 on PSX and I only ever played GT3 once. I thought it was pretty garbage. Too much detail in the backgrounds made the cars feel slow. Apparently I was doing 200KM/h when it felt like 20km/h...
Hopefully PS2 games programmers will get to know the PS2 engine better for the release of GT4 (if they bring one out....)

From the news that i've heard they r thinking of putting a V8 in the GTR or Putting a V6 twin turbo but if they put the V6 they would have to stick to the 260 kw limitation they have

I beleave it will be a V-8, check this (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t4338.html) out for some more discussion on it.
Oh, and they don't really have a limitation legaly, it's just a gentleman's agreement between the major auto makers to avoid the HP wars we had.

Motorex in California imports them. That is an R34, so it would be VERY pricey (more than a viper).

yeah around $89,500 for an R34 Skyline GT-R V-spec , but it's as low as $18,000 for a 1990 R32 Nissan Skyline GTS-T I think

yeah i know i was just giving from the very affordable to the pricey models......kind of like how most car manufacturers have the lowly base model cars to the top of the line models
but i wouldn't go for the GTS-T anyways, even though that's probably all that i would be able to afford for now if i just used up all of my college money......but i'd rather have the GT-R because those are the ones with the more power and simply i'd like saying "my car has all wheel drive how about yours?" instead of oh yeah it's rear-wheel drive.....unless it was built before "Godzilla" then i dunno about it, kind of like comparing that gourmet japanese beef to fillet mingion..both are excellent cuts of beef, but which one is the more desired? which one is the most in demand? which one will cost more? both leave you salivating, but only one is in more demand......
(ok bad analogy, but i'm hungry and dinner isn't ready yet...we're having lobster

Well it all depends on what you can afford, if you can't swing a GTR (like me) a GTS-4 would be a good choice. Of course it's not a GTR, but you get ATTESSA, an RB20DET (in the R32, RB25DE in the R33), and a sporty car. I wish I could buy an R32 GTR when I move but as usual money prevents it. So I'm going to go for an R33 GTS-4 and work on getting some forced induction:D
Oh yea, motorex has two GTS-ts in stock (I think they are in the lot)
1992 GT-S Blue 26,000 miles $24,000
1990 GT-S Silver 37,000 miles $18,000

But I think the GT-R is evolving into the form it needs to compete in the future. The VQ-series V6 is already available turbocharged from the factory in Japan.
The Nissan Stagea wagon uses a VQ25DET and already has the same power rating as the RB(276hp) but with less displacement.
The original VQ was a normally aspirated screamer, making 410hp. Making that kind of power under normal aspriation is harder on an engine block than turbocharging, so the VQ can handle even more power under boost.
A Maxima owner with a turbocharged VQ30DE made nearly 400 crank hp with less than 10 pounds of boost, and stock internals. Imagine a 3.5-liter VQ with twin turbos! Actually, you don't have to. A VQ35DETT was already used in a racing R34, and was estimated to make 450hp. However, the torque figure was well into the 500lb-ft range, so the power rating was probably very conservative.
The XVL chassis that the new Skyline is based on is excellent as well. The Skyline sedan is said to have great handling due to it's nearly perfect weight balance. Fortunately, the chassis is lighter. Weight was always a problem for the Skyline, and even the luxo-sedan Infiniti G35 is around 200lbs lighter than the R34 GT-R. If the sedan form of the platform is this good, the coupe version(350Z, G35 Coupe, GT-R) will be even better.

First - gabedude - looks awesome... I mean you fixed the headlights just like I would have.. but not only that but you doctored up that photo awesome.. no matter what it was a photo of! I'm impressed! I probably couldn't have done that if you paid me. Then again.. it could be really easy, I just don't know anything about photoshop and stuff like that.. but we can act like it was hard!! The only other change I would have made is a little bit of silver at the bottom of the initial front bumper.. it just looks like there's a big hole at the bottom of the bumper.. There needs to be a little silver before you get to that front spoiler.
second, whats the price range on this baby? I just ordered a new 350z, I like the styling of it muuuccch better than the GT-R, but I'm thinking the Gt-r is way more expensive? what kind of power does it have??

cmon guys it was just a question you have no reason to believe jsb88 is making a remark degrading skylines, I for one think that the concept has very much potential. I must admit though I am a big fan of current skyline body style, why mess with a good thing? (as for your question jsb Skyline undoubtably holds the top place on the market for the most modifiable japanese domestic vehicle, tunable to over 1k hp. the GT-R for example with an 2.6 liter DOHC 24 valve inline 6 produces 280 hp at 6800 rpm's with its intercooled duce turbo it is still highly modifiable/upgradable. Plus the fact that the car's styling is beautiful from the front to the rear, styling on the other hand is still a matter of opinion. :)

Sorry, I could not elaborate anymore, I was taking my mommy to the airport in the beast.
She comes in at Gatwick, so she takes it for granted that she is leave at Gatwick, guess what, she was suppose to be leaving at Heathrow. So we had to travel 40 miles in 30 min in Heavy traffic. I made it, need I say more:) 140mph in some spots. I will never do that again.
Funny thing is my mom was complaining about how I was driving when I picked her up a few weeks ago, but she was grinin from ear to ear when we were haulin butt to get her to Heathrow. She even complemented me on my driving, Moms:rolleyes:

jsb88,
To really answer your question, you have to drive one. Sami, was telling me about how numbers really do not do this car justice, and its true.
You can get a very reliable car putting out 500 streetable, usable hp and it handles like a dream, it built like shit brick house. Its an all around well engineered car. There are other cars out there that are very well made, but there are just not Skylines.
I am very happy with mine, but I will be up-grading. If you want to take it for a drive, come on over, but I get to drive your Lotus:)

You can get a very reliable car putting out 500 streetable, usable hp and it handles like a dream, it built like shit brick house. Its an all around well engineered car. There are other cars out there that are very well made, but there are just not Skylines.

I see now. Easily modifiable saloons, that are fast. Are they expensive?
To all of you who were getting a bit mad at me, I was just wondering what makes these cars so good, I was not trying to put them down.

well in the uk there around 44,000, imported to the US there around 90k so they arent cheap. but you can't beat 1000hp modified with a 2568cc engine!

stock the Skyline's top speed is held back by a speed governor, which can be easily removed from the engine. unmodified they run 111.8 mph, modified I believe the Blitz Skyline holds a 214 mph record.

Hey Evo,
Whats up?
As for top speed, what mods are we talking? With a GTR that has been moded pretty good, 600hp your looking around 190 or so. I am taking that from the some of the local info.
One guys here got up to 209 the other day, I think he is pushing 750 at the wheels. These are off the top of my head, so I could be off a little, but in the ball park.

Wow... so slow to so fast! Are they easily modifiable or are they just popular because of all the modifications they can have?
