all me and my friends drive crazy....its just how kids are we think we are invincible you know....and dumb shit happens....i have 2 roads I speed on because You can see ahead of you and to your sides incase cops are, you usually wont die doing 70 and not swirving through cars...

I am really new to this message board. But I love Skylines like no other. I am sorry about the deaths while speeding. If I die it will probably be a tree at 80mph. And the pics like the one in my pic are old R35 pics. The newer GTR is the only closest thing to the next skyline that I know of.

As much as i love the GT-R concept i know that the next R35 skyline is going to look more like the other pics we have seen. Im doing automotive Design at degree level and we will be making clay models soon too. I love the look of most of nissans concepts except them dumb box things! The new fairlady looks good, glad to see they put that into production. But i still cant decide between the new NSX-R and the R35
oh yeah and yay me for my first post on this forum!!

Hi All I just recieved my Official GTR Press release pamphlet that was given out at the 2001 toyko motor show and I wanted to come here and brag about it :flipa: just kidding. I did discover something that wasn't mentioned in any of the latter posts though (yes I read this whole thread) In one of the High resolution pics I noticed the front spoiler (the lower black piece ppl were complaining made the front grille look to big) is made of carbon Fibre as well is all of the black trim around the grille and the vents directly under the lights. There is also what looks to be turn signal lights on the cross membar in the middle of these vents. Nothing really special but could be looked at as an attempt on better weight savings from earlier Skylines. I've been a Skyline lover ever sence the day I first learned of them I still like the R 34 look better but this new GTR is starting to grow on me. Hopefully they'll still make Skylines in Japan so when I can afford one I'll go through MotoRex and get the newest Godzilla :sun: Sence I got this collectable piece of automotive literature I plan on making some Photoshoped pics "any requests before I start?" I know I know the headlights. My first will most likely be an attempt to make it look more like a Skyline front grille and lights and of course an Intercooler will be thrown into that Black void.

More Carbon means........ higher price?
Jimmy2times
01-20-2002, 07:18 AM
no more carbon might not mean higher price, yeah carbon stuff is expensive to buy but when a manufacturer starts producing large amounts of the same thing it tends to be fairly cheap, over here ford were gonna do it on an elextric version of the Ford Ka it had a mainly carbon body which was super light, even the interior like the dash and the backs of the seats were carbon
just thought you should know, it usually works like that

Hey bro, why don't you delete this post and start a new thread for it. Otherwise a mod might delete it for being off topic and you'd never get it answered.

well, yeah. the new Skyline concept is yet another great car!! many people think that it is GREAT, many think its S#@T. I think that its ok, I mean, its a great car..BUT, it still doesn't have the original concepts of the true GT-R! The new look of the concept I dont like because hasn't got the characteristics of the true GT-R body! wouldn't it look nice with the R34 airvent and the R34 GT-R headlights? to be honest, it doesn't look much like the other GT-R's! lots of other things about the new concept are just TOO different! what do u think?

That Car has some nice appeal, and it better be coming to the US! Tho they didn't have to make it so Futuristic looking, I liked some of the older looks better, meaning the r34's style.
Whitebread
01-27-2002, 02:38 PM
Yeah, it's too furturistic is styling, they took some of the R34's components out which I'm not happy with and the price.............what the fuck happened there.

hehe i just found out the r35 i thought was the concept was just a computer image....i feel dumb.....
anyway, away from that.....i find it hard to believe that u guys only like the newer models of the GTR....y? do u guys actually know how many generations there r? 10 generations...10. the skyline i fell in love with was the KGC10 3rd generation skyline...The FIRST skyline to come with the GTR badge...http://www.geocities.com/toasterino/Skyline/pgc10.GIF
i know this isnt the KGC10 but it is the body style im talkin about...this the 4-door version...do u guys even know what an r30 or r31 look like??
http://www.geocities.com/toasterino/Skyline/R30.jpg
again i know this is the 4-door...the only pic i have of one...this is the R30
http://www.geocities.com/toasterino/Skyline/R31_GTS-R.JPG
now here is the R31....the r30-31 were the ONLY body styles not to be produced in the GTR specs...i had both body styles r30 RS-X and the r-31 GTS-X...Now hopefully u guys know that the R-31 was released in the GTS-R version, making it comparable to the GTR's we know now...the only thing, NISSAN only made 800 GTS-R's in 1988, making it one of the few rare cars NISSAN made. the only reason i didnt get a newer skyline was because of, one, they were out of my price range, and two, they were too round for me....i want a blocky car, and thats why i like the R34, but just like everyone in here says its too heavy. if u guys want a GTR y dont u get a 71 Hakuska Skyline GTR? they produced bout 200 horses from a DOHC, Inline-6, 2 liter, with triple weber carbs....no turbos sorry...but u guys could actually afford it...they are for sale for bout 20 grand and u dont have to worry bout gettin anything converted to US specs cause they are 30+ yrs old....i guess thats all i got to ramble on about........My cars: 2 1986 Corollas, 2 Skylines, 1 Nissan Laurel, Toyota Corona, Toyota Carina ED,

Thats what im talkin about! I lived in Japan for 10 years i went through 3 generations of skylines...
the KGC10, i believe, was made from '68 to 72' but dont quote me on that one... i almost got a 71 GTR cause the japanese dealership was goin to sell it to me for 17 grand...a hell of a lot cheaper than i thought...well, it kinda helps if u r goin with his daughter too, but thats not the point...i wouldve had a car that NISSAN only made 1500 of...Just one thing...when i got into that car, i fell in love with it....as with any skyline i got into...thats enough of my naustalgic memories...

I was at the Detroit Auto Show during Press Days and met Nissans US Marketing Head. He swears it is coming to the US 2004/05 model and priced around $50k. He says performance target is 911 turbo! The car looks absolutely sexy- yes, the headlights will be modified different. It looks very, very aggressive without any scoops, etc (unlike my WRX). Also, interior will be different and it probably will be branded as an Infiniti. Who cares they can call it Kia as long as they bring it over here soon!

yes, the newest Skyline has been on sale in Japan for about 8 months now. Its only the 4 door sedan version and it no longer has the RB (inline 6), its now a V6.. :-(
therefore the newest Skyline is NOT an R35..
Its V35

BTW, Nissan made an announcement saying because of Japans new stricter EPA laws they will drop the Silvia, and they are reconsidering releasing the next GTR V35. The new Z is a V6 and tuned to pass emmisions. But they said the SR20 and RB series will be too costly to make pass emmisions, therefore... the future days of Nissan are looking gloomy. The Japanese buyers are FURIOUS with these new announcments and they blame the new Nissan President who is not even Japanese, this is the first Nissan President to be a foriegner, he is french or something, and he has no passion for sports cars or Nissans rich history in motorsports.

Mike, Ghosn is the name of the Nissan's President, and trust me, he is THE man to make Nissan go bullish again, he has done wonders for the company already, and all the new power machines you see on the market such as the new the new Altima, Maxima, super charged Xterra, the upcoming 280hp+ Z, and the G35, as well as 340hp Q45 happened because of him. His philosophy is actually not to compromise on cars, especially their output.

well ín my opinion it's simple and plain. if Nissan is making profit again ( they already did in the last year, and that's some accomplishment if you watch the car market ) the sports car will come, it's just a mather of time. It's obvious if a car maker is making red figures, they cut expenses. And I think Ghosn is the man to do that with Nissan

ok, maybe he is THE man for getting Nissan to make big money world wide again but they were doing just fine at home in Japan, staying right there with Toyota in sales.
but he is the one responsible for getting rid of the loved RB and SR motors and that is not sitting right with buyers and fans here in Japan. When that ugly pos Skyline V35 debuted and showed up at a BM drift event, sure people went to check it out, but when the hood was opened and they saw the V6.. everyone was dissapointed, reactions were terrible. In the tuning world, Japanese HATE V6's. For one there is hardly any aftermarket support, even here where aftermarket is over 62 billion a year. The inline 6 is and always will be the motor of choice for enthusiast and tuning shops, look in a recent magazine article and you will see the "starting to be famous" V35 Skyline with RB26 swap.
He may be getting Nissan on track as far as profits but he is not sticking with the styles, he even said that the S15 Silvia is "not consistent with the styling we plan to take Nissan to" when he was announcing plans to drop the Silvia all together as well as the SR and RB powerplants. That will be a HUGE mistake.
Its a well known fact that the largest supported engines in the world of aftermarket is the SR and RB by Nissan and the 4AG and 1JZ buy Toyota.

Why a V-6? It makes absolutely no sense. Its not the Skyline that everyone fell in love with, well for me anyway. I think of it as the inline-6 BEAST, not the V-6 Kitten. This is all my view anyway. And how is a V-6 more economic anyway? I believe they are puttin a 3 liter in the skyline anyway. I think a 2.6-liter is just a smidge more fuel effecient. I dont see how the president of Nissan could steer the company that way. If it really happens then the 86 corolla will be my favorite car again.......................

I agree with you, but my favorite car would probably be a 300zx TT then =( .... and v6's motors are just so over played and the torque on that inline was crazy :D

I wish the Pres. of Nissan was reading these threads right now. He would then hopefully understand the value of the Skyline as an Inline-6 instead of a V-6, and he would see that most of us dont like the new skyline. Hell, I know I don't. It's just not right. And what is the purpose of getting rid of the S15? It just serves to piss people off more. If it is the whole "emissions" thing, they should consider that it really doesnt matter in Japan. If the company makes the car so it passes emissions, if it gets into a racer/drifter's hands, surprise! It won't pass emissions anymore. I guess thats enough from me....

looks wise i dont see how anyone could prefer the old skylines over this car. it still looks aggressive whilst at the same time becoming ten times purer and more elegant. It's its own car, which you couldnt say about the old skylines, which had bits and pieces tacked on all over the place. the R34 was a cartoon, a computer game designed car. Engine-wise complain about all you want about the R35, but complaining about the new looks strikes me of complaining about making the car better looking, which doesnt make any sense. "no! we want our skylines to be ugly!" ..old skylines are not renowned for their beauty, but for the way they go. if nissan engineers do their job properly, and im sure they will, the car will still go like stink and it will do so in a much more attractive package.. its almost as if people are becoming afraid of admiring a more 911-like car, as this has always been the enemy. and for it to remain the enemy, the hero(GT-R) must remain as distant as possible from the other car, and so remain "functional, not design-driven, ugly"..

you say that the r35 is becoming its own car and then compare it to the 911 (how fucking original can that be)?
As for the likes side of things it is all a matter of opinion and they all differ.
as for the r34 it may be "a cartoon, a computer game generated car" as you so elequantly put it. But hey it looks GOOD and alot of people really liked where Nissan was heading with their designs (hey computer games are popular aren't they:rolleyes: )

First of all Jay, the V35 looks like crap. It has a V-6 normally aspirated engine. They just basically said, "What the hell, we'll take the engine out of the new 350Z and put it in here." How can you say the the new V35 looks good? It's horrible. The company is getting rid of the RB engine and, supposedly, the SR engine. I think they are going the wrong way. This is exatcly what happened in the 80's, with the oil crisis, they made quote, unquote, luxury cars, that were fuel economic. I know about this cause I had a R31 Skyline. The R31 was the biggest Skyline they made, by at least 2", yes 2". It didn't work, thats why they made the R31 turbo. The public was mad cause the R30 and R31 were the only 2, count them, 2 that were not made in the GT-R specs. I, hopefully, think that the Nissan company will get its head straight and discontinue this V35 trend. No one, that I know, will buy this car, even if it comes to the states. Again, this is all I have to say.....

well jay...looks wise the R34 is to me a better looking car, i think that if you're driving an R34, it has a sort of how should i say it...a"don't dare try to race with me or i'll burn the crap out of you and make you look dumb in front of your girl as soon as the light turns green" attitude...it's aggressiveness is its beauty...it somewhat foreshadows the vision of the howling beast that is trapped under the hood. power wise , i'd much rather have the inline 6 RB26DETT twin turbo engine than the v6 just because it defines the Skyline that i know of......i know that there are other skylines out there ( just ask R31DriftKing he knows about the really good ones) but to feel the power and the grace of the R34 would be a dream come true for me...not that jay's vision is incorrect maybe he just likes normally aspirated engines rather than turbos, but to me if there is a v6 under the hood, there's no Skyline GT-R

A car doesnt have to look vulgar to be aggressive, which the R34 does, IMVHO
+ what i said excluded the engine, i appreciate both turbo's and normally aspirated engines; i do understand where youre coming from about it not being a real skyline though...

i dont think you quite got what i was trying to say.. .
i mean that it has gone up-market and in its new form can be seen dicing with a 911 rather than "lesser" cars in terms of prestige. it doesnt look anything like a 911 if you thought thats what i was trying to convey

First of all Jay, the V35 looks like crap. It has a V-6 normally aspirated engine
(what do the two have to do with eachother?)
First of all, pal, its called having an opinion, you may think the V/R/whatever 35 looks like crap, well i dont. i really dont. simple as that. you want to dispute something i say, fine, dispute a fact ive spouted, something concrete that can be measured or proven, not my own personal opinion. I THINK THE R35 LOOKS BETTER THAN THE R34. There. Ive said it again. Its as simple as that. You dont like it, tough shit.
as for where the company is going with the car, we'll just have to wait and see how it drives. if it drives like shit, complain all you want. until then, there's no reason to label this car the downfall of nissan or whatever....
cheers,
jay

Well personaly I think Skylines have been going downhill looks wise ever sense the R32 and at the same time have been making improvements performance wise. I suppost we will just have to wait untill 2004 to see if trend is continueing. Atleast by that time used R34s will be cheaper :silly: :D

ok jay. i understand your opinion, but i have my own. not tryin to single you out, but, the only reason ppl want a skyline, i think, is just to have a skyline. some ppl dont care that the skyline has serverly hampered. its like havin a dog with 2 legs, can u play catch with that dog? why do u want a skyline that is NA? that isnt a real skyline...
again my famous line, that is all i have to say.....

dont worry about singling me out... even if i am alone with a different view to all the people in here im not going to change my mind because of it. no fun if everyone has the same opinion, is it? :D
i hear what youre saying about the R35... but i think it has retained some Skyline-ness about it and is growing up at the same time. i know that this is not necessarily a good thing ( i dont like the fact that the 911 is "growing up") but i think it will still be a very good car... performance cars rarely get worse with development and im sure the car will have rave reviews when it is released. whether the changes make it "not a real skyline" is up to you to decide. But if its a vastly competent car at a (comparatively) affordable price, it will be hard to complain. if youre worrying that the car's more mature looks will make it appeal to an older audience, i dont think you should worry too much as older guys would still prefer being seen in a Porsche or the like (no offence to Nissan or Skyline owners)

jay

i see the skyline as growning up too. its still considerated as a young car to manufactures. you make mistakes as you grow older(in relation to the skyline), i just thought that a major mistake was the r30 and r31 being luxury. i thought that the companies wouldn't have bactracked to making that same mistake. im hopeing that, like before, they will correct it, again, and go back to the motor that made them famous.

I will believe it when I see it. This was one of the first concept DRAWINGS done. I'm sure the car that is actually released will more strongly resemble the PHYSICAL concept car from the Auto Show. Unless Nissan totally blows our mind and decides to develop the car into the picture you posted, I'm not thinking it will resemble that drawing much.

I just wish they had imported them sooner. I agree with Driftking about the looks, the R34 has a certain aggressive look the new 35 doesn't. I also agree with Jay, in that this is just my opinion, and it isn't any more valid than anyone elses.
At least on the styling of Skylines. :D
