Hello all,
My girlfriend has a 2006 Dodge Stratus SXT. Last night when we went to dinner, it ran fine. We came out two hours later, and the car would start, then die about 2 seconds later. It did that about 3 times. Then it wouldn't start at all. The little red light in between the fuel gauge, and the speedometer started blinking red. We towed it home and left it sit. She called the dodge dealer ship, and they said to have the battery checked. It was taken out and showed as fine. We put it back in, and it started fine, and has ran fine ever since.
Has anyone else had this problem? What does this light mean? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like disconnecting the battery possibly 'reset' something. Sometimes you can reset codes in your computer by doing this. Does the car have an aftermarket security system? I'm wondering if that is what you red light is and possibly removing the battery reset it. Just some thoughts, without looking at your car.
Also, if your car has coded keys, and you tried to start it with a key thats uncoded, it would act exactly like that. Start for a second, then die.

the reason for this happened is not because of the battery. But unplugging the battery is the thing that fixed it. the 06 dodge stratus has a standard security feature for ignition. your key has a chip in it. and that chip is programed to your car. if the car does not sense that chip at start up, IE. it will start and then run for 2 sec then stop. if you continue this processes for 3 consecutive starts. the engine will no longer even start because it thinks it is being stolen. when you took the battery off and back on it reset the comp or something thus makin it work.
that is what happened. the reason it happened in the first place im not sure about. but i am 100% sure that is what happened.
hope that sheds some light.
