Have 95 Transport with power side door. Wrecking a similar car, 95 Lumina for parts with same features. Would like to salvage the remote for use on the Transport which controls door locks and power side door. I don't know if the Transport came with a remote since previous owner did not supply it but I suspect it was shipped when new.
Several questions:
1) where is the receiver module on the wrecked Lumina? What would it look like. Perhaps I could transfer the module to theTransport.
2) rather than salvage the module could I re-programm to the Transport? Is is it possible to do it myself?
3) when re-programming which gets changed, the remote or the receiver?
4) does the VIN give clues to factory options? Specifically the remote door locks?
thnx

THe receiver is to the right of the glove box..
ALso this from John/TransSportSTL...not sure to which year model it applies:
PP2-6 Owners Manual: Customizing Automatic Locks
With the doors closed, and the ignition on, press and hold the drivers power lock
switch in the lock position for 10 seconds. The doors will lock, then unlock, indicating
you have 10 seconds to program one of four custom modes.
1. Unlock drivers door only: To program so that only the drivers door unlocks when you
shift in park, press the Unlock Symbol on your remote transmitter 9fob) once. The drivers
door will unlock, indicating this mode has been programmed.
2. Unlock all doors: Press the Unlock Symbol on your remote transmitter (fob) once -- the drivers door will unlock. Press the Unlock Symbol again, all doors unlock, indicating this mode has been programmed.
3. All doors remain locked: Press the Lock Symbol on your transmitter (fob) once. All doors lock, indicating this mode has been programmed.
4. Disengage the Automatic Door Lock System: Press the Lock Symbol on your fob once -- all doors lock. Press the Lock Symbol again, all doors will re-lock, indicating this mode has been programmed.
When I had my '93, I picked up the habit of hitting the Lock switch twice on exit -- I was triggering the delay by opening the door before my key was out of the ignition.

Thanks that was very helpful. I didn't realize there was a 5 second delay on single press of the door lock switch upon the closing of hte last door. Always used a double press of the switch which locks immediately.
Will follow up on the as soon as weather changes. We're having an ugly period this week. I have to remove the RH panel as per instructions and locate the receiver unit.

Before you tear the transport apart... Open your glove box and have a look at the RPO List or SPID.. On this list if you have Remote Entry you will have a code AU0 for Keyless( remote entry ) if the van came equipped with this feature from the factory..
Also being that I am curious... Look for possible codes... 1SA,1SB,1SC,1SD,1SE,1SF .... The transports seemed to come in a variety of flavors...

Unfortunately, not able to find anything in the glove box. No markings that I can see.

Update:
100% success. I found the receiver module. Located just above the glove box. It's easy to recognize. The giveaway is FCC label so you know it's a radio device. Measures about 3 inch x 4 inch. There is a small button (train switch) just to the one side of the electrical connector. The Transport receiver is not compatible with the salvaged Lumina remote so I changed the receiver module. Ran into other problems with the remote not related to the project. The transmitter had one dead battery but the reall problem was the tiny switches inside. I had to cut the unit open to access. The switches inside have four terminals each soldered to the board. From years of service the solder joints had become broken on two. Little solder job, reassemble and bingo. Of course had to go through the reprogram instructions you guys provided. I took pcitures but I don't know how to post.
Everything is working exactly as it's supposed to!!!!
Thanks to this fantastic forum. Thanks again.
