Okay this is a little long sorry i need some help. so I gave in and bought the pipe $183.00. I go to put it on it don't fit needs to be a inch longer (if that maybe 1/2 inch might do. I bring back to the dealer he looks it by my vin and again tell me it the only pipe they offer. So I decide to have them put it on..($88.00) it really takes about 5 minutes to do..After an hour he come out and says it is the wrong pipe and they will need to call gm on monday(today) he call me and leave me a message. Saying it needs EGR kit wich is another 350.00..Any ways I looked it up on my alldata and there a bullitin. The kit is GM #89018176. The pipe I got was GM # 12602507. My thing is if im reading it right the pipe is included with this kit...However unless this new EGR valve sits lower some how the pipe is still not going to fit becoes its the same part number under the kit that I bought out right? I can do it my self If I but the kit now I have to try to get the dealer to take back the first pipe I bought the first time. AM I READING THIS RIGHT THIS KITCONTAINS FOR PART NUMBER THE PIPE BEING ONE RIGHT

This bulletin is being revised to update the first Important statement in the Correction section. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-06-04-008A (Section 06 - Engine/Propulsion System).
Condition
Some customers may comment on a Service Engine Soon (SES) light illuminated on the instrument cluster. Some vehicles may have previously been serviced for this same condition. Technicians may also find a DTC P1404 and/or DTC P0404, which may have led to previous exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve and PCM replacements.
Correction
The following EGR valve (http://www.alldatadiy.com/alldata/AFI~V14845134~C39350~R0~OD~N/0/108596970/108596971/108596972/108596975/34853741/34857029/34857699/34872079) service parts kit, P/N 89018176, contains all the required individual parts needed to perform an EGR system change-over for the vehicles listed in this bulletin only. Please be advised that some early produced kits may contain an instruction sheet that has an error in the wiring portion of the procedure. Therefore, it is advised that the instructions included in the kit be discarded and that only the instructions contained in the bulletin be used.

This kit contains all necessary parts for conversion. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calibration must be updated for the Siemens EGR valve to work correctly. Failure to install an updated calibration when using this conversion kit may cause PCM diagnostic codes to set, resulting in a "Service Engine Soon" indicator lamp to illuminate.

My EGR pipe broke in half due to corrosion. Imagine that, corrosion in a 2005 Equinox... If you haven't noticed, GM updated the EGR valve which utilizes a shorter EGR pipe. This new and only available pipe will not work on a 2005 EGR valve. Anyway, my friend welded the pipe back together but the J-B weld coating over the porous weld began to burn and crack. I decided to take the advice from this post and fix it right. I purchased the EGR valve kit, P/N 89018176, and completed the repair with no problems. If you do this it is rather simple if you the basic tools. Here is some advice to make it go smoother.

- Use a penetrating lube to help loosen the bolts. I used a warm engine to help as well.
- The kit does not come with the two bolts that mount the valve to the engine. I was able to reuse the originals but they were rusting and I would rather have replaced these as well.
- The wiring diagram describes rewiring two grey wires. This is a misprint as one is green, not grey. The wiring pattern is the same as the old connector and should be obvious when you rewire it.
- I had a Chevy dealer reprogram the PCM as recommended in multiple posts. Not sure if it was really needed, or not, because my "service engine soon" light never illuminated and I did not notice any performance issues. Maybe the emissions inspection would have noticed.
- All is well so far and I am going for my emissions inspection in a week.

I had problems as well. Told shop about the parts confusion, but they didn't listen. Dealer swore this was the right valve, but the shop didn't like how it looked (too tight) and they expected it would snap from the strain:

After the dealer found an addendum specifying the right part, the shop called it back in to install the proper kit:

Hope these images help.
