sub-1

I have a 1999 Sub. 5.7 and replaced the intake gaskets at 60K.
I also have a 2006 sub 8.1. 45K.
Does the 8.1 have the same antifreeze / intake gasket problems as the 5.7 ???
Thanks Pete

The 5.7 did not HAVE A ANTIFREEZE PROBLEM UNLESS IT WAS PEOPLE NOT SEVERCING IT.
Your 06 8.1 does not have mileage or age to have any problems or for any problems to show up yet.
I would service coolant system ever 3 years or 50K and see how it goes.
Good Luck.

MT thanks for the response. The antifreeze ate through the intake gaskets on the 5.7.
Someone told me that the 06 8.1 does not have the coolant running through the intake like the older 5.3 and 5.7's.
So the coolant will not eat through the intake gaskets.
I just wanted to confirm that.

The Gen III engines do not have coolant running thru the intake.
The issue with the 96-00 L31 intake gaskets was the fact that they were made out of plastic and were prone to cracking. Fel-pro makes a redesigned gasket that is much better than OEM.
