I've encountered the same thing on a few installs, and most often when dealing with truck engines (4-bolt) into a car chassis. Supposedly, there is no difference, but even using the same mounts, the engine sits lower in the cradle. If you compare a new set of upper mounts (those which bolt to the engine), the truck mounts have a slightly lower position for the through-bolt. One of these days I'll compare a truck block ot a car block to verify whether they are the same, and if the only difference is in the mounts.

Your frame mounts are on the correct sides of the frame? Just a sanity check. I don't recall that they were different from right to left.

Also make sure that you clean out any residual rubber from all the holes in the mounts. The new "safety" mounts I've seen with the slots and holes plugged up with the excess potted rubber in them. This can make for a close but no cigar fit.

As a last resort, I've opened up the slots on a milling machine in one case.

Good luck, Bob
