Do you have to remove the dash for heater core replacement?
How much of a pain is it to replace?
Do you know if it is right behind the glove box?
All I have is smoke when defrost is on smell anti freeze.
Thanks Tom

I'm wondering why this post has gone unanswered?
1) I'm not sure that you have to completely remove the dash panel, but for sure it's in the way. You might be able to get away with removing all the fasteners and having someone force it out of the way while you remove the heater plenum and related parts.
2) As you might expect, the dash panel is the most time consuming. Don't let that scare you away though.. the core wont fix itself !!
3) Yes, it's behind the glove box
You can click my forum name, follow that to my homepage, and get a copy of your Ford service manual. The whole process is in there.

I'll answer as well and add my 2 cents. Sure its a big pain in the ass, but you will save you a fortune in labor costs if you do the job your self. I would definitely get a buddy to help to move things out of the way, it would make a good weekend job. Think about replacing the blend door motor while in there if you can afford it.
