The last 2 times I put gas on I could not even run the fill nozzel below the first notch without it clicking off, it appears the tank is not venting, could it be the evap canister vent solenoid? I also had the tighten fuel cap warning come on before this started, and now the CEL lite is on,do I need to use a code reader to reset the CEL after the problem is repaired?

The fill vent is separate from the EVAP system. The fill vent terminates in the filler neck. There is likely a combination flame arrestor/anti-surge/anti-siphon valve in your filler neck:

It may be damaged, especially if the tank has been removed for some reason or someone has been attempting to siphon fuel.

try to massage the fuel filler neck hose...with out removing it...this is a hose in a hose...it is possible the inner hose is collaped or a bend in it...
the fuel cap code could be a hole in the filler neck where it was welded for brackets to mount to the side panel...If this is rusted out like a small pin hole it can be repaired with a metal mender/epoxy weld products...the filler neck is about 225.oo.....

I checked the anti surge siphon & flame arrestor they are all working properly, but i noticed now when i remove the filler cap that there is pressure in the fuel tank.

you should have vacuum, not pressure...a slight sucking sound is normal at times....this means that you have no leaks...
what about the fueling problem? dtc's ?

It is definetly pressure and i still have the fueling problem

so your saying when you remove the gas cap gas vapors blow out?

this is a good one as I don't know how pressure can increase to such an amount that it blows out gas vapors....something must be connected wrong...where is this positive pressure coming from ?
It is very possible that the cannister is plugged solid and not allowing gas vapors to be absorbed...also you have a very large tank if you fill up the tank too much and then don't drive it far the cannister WILL get damaged....do you always fill to the max then don't drive far ?

I don't know where the positive pressure is coming from is excess fuel returned to the tank from the engine? that could be adding pressure if the tank is not venting properly.also when i fill up i usually quit when the pump kicks off but i live in northern MN and i park in a heated garage so the gas could expand and damage the canister. When i was checking the anti-siphon and anti-surge i took the vent line off the canister there was what appeard to be oil in the line.

your explaination now makes sense to me...you most likely have to replace the cannister assy...when cold weather hits and you use the heated garage don't full tank to max...try for 3/4tank...allow room for expansion...when the fuel goes from zero to 65 deg this will cause more expansion than you will believe possible...
this should take care of this...your tank vacuum is monitored...the tank has valves that vent and allow a vacuum to be created..the PCM monitors this pressure/vacuum change and if its not changing correctly throws codes....when things are correct a slight vacuum is what will keep the computer happy....
when the cannister gets full of fuel this then causes the charcoal to bind together and not breath as designed...[plug up]...

Thanks for the info it is all starting to make sense i will replace the canister and see what happens.:grinyes:

I found the problem it was the canister vent valve that was stuck i replaced it and filled up the tank yesterday and everything is working like it should.

thats great ...this valve may have stuck when as you mentioned that you seen some black oil in those lines ...that may be fuel and cannister charcoal...
hopefully with not filling to much you will be OK....
