i have a 1995 f150 with the 5.8 and it has recently started sputtering when i hit the gas. it is at any speed. it idles good. just did plugs, wires, cap and rotor, coolant temp sensor, and ignition coil.

another problem i have been having is starting it when it is cold. it starts right up if it has been ran during the day but if i try to start it in the morning sometimes it doesent start and sometime i have to try for a couple mins to get it started.

i have taken it to mechanics and they dont know what is wrong with either of the problems. theyve put it on a computer and every is working good and all the numbers are right on. any help would be great. thanks

They ran the scans and no codes? or the PCM didn"t respond? By computer do you mean scan code reader? No Lights?

yea i mean the scan code reader. no lights come on when it happens. i will push the gas down a little and it will sputter and if i push it down more it will sputter once and not accelerate

Have you had a electrical event recently- grounded the positive (pop/wtf/sparks/oops!)? Check your timing w/ a spout connection in & out, at idle & w/ increased RPM. Thinking PCM has lost power, ground, not entering closed loop function, or fried. Statistically the PCM component has one of the lowest failure rates on a vehicle, but _ _ _ _ happens! & WTF just happened! changes the odds (Especially if you tend to use the top of your battery as a tool tray).:banghead:

i havent had anything like that. i just had a stereo system installed but it was doing it before then, other than that there has been nothing. i just had the timing checked and it was right on. ive tried putting it in gear, holding the break down, and giving it gas till the tires spin and it doesent sputter.only when im driving it

When the key is turned on, there are two selinoids mounted next to each other around the driver firewall. they go to the computer & fuel pump. you should be able to hear & feel them actuate w/ finger on top. Sometimes covered w/ a rubber boot. If one doesn't, follow it's lead back to it's fuseable link & check all your fuseable links & fuses. Got to pull a generator off a boat, Reveiw unanswered ?'s, I'll be back in 8hrs. if nobody helps you by then & the generator agrees to being relocated. Sometimes their crained into place prior to building the deck. A good sense of humor, crow bars and a gorrilla named Hey Zeus. A Greek guy w/ a great tan, that speaks fluent spanish including cus words. Should have it sitting on the dock in no time.

Try cleaning the temperature sensor if they get scaled they tell the computer its warmer than it is running. Pull the vacuum hose for the fuel pressure regulator if it has gas in it replace it with a new one.
