i posted in older threads without thinking here i go again. my car had a bad battery connection and after the battery disconnected while tryiing to start the car my control unit started flashing and when that happened my hot air became cold as ice. i have fixed the battery problem, now i am left with cold air in northern ohio in the middle of winter, unless i turn the car off and restart every couple of minutes while driving. what do i need to do.. replace actuator, let the system try to reset itself, or what? thanks

Turn the tempture setting all the way down to the lowest setting and then to the highest setting (60-90 degrees). Leave it on each setting for a couple of seconds. I usally repeat it twice when it happens and it should reset itself.

tried it. it worked until i shut the car off, the reset didnt take. how long did it last for you?

Hard to pinpoint the only time mine flashed daily was right before my a/c went out. I'm guesssing the code was for low refrigeriant.I usually use that procedure when i disconnect my battery and forget to turn of the climate control. The only way to read the codes stored in the a/c system is with a advanced scan tool like a Tech 2.

i know that my ac compressor is on its way out. wondering if that could be it. i was also low on engine coolant for a little bit, could that have caused it?

You may have air pockets in your cooling system this can cause a no heat condition. you may want to bleed the cooling system

The first question is why was it low on coolant. Where did the coolant go? Leak? Water pump, connections, hose ends, radiator leak? Intake manifold?
To get an air pocket out of the heater core, the motor should be thoroughly warm, the lower radiator hose should be warmed, and then run motor at 2500 for 10 seconds, then repeat for total of 5 times. I park with the front of the car uphill to make the heater lower than normal to help the air work its way out.
Then with the motor running open the bleeder screw on top of the thermostat housing to let out the air that may be trapped there.

after doing a lot of research i've come to the conclusion that i need to replace the actuators. is it easy or hard to get to the actuators to replace them? thanks

just an update after having no problems for the entire spring, summer and fall, i had the problem again, so i finally went to pull-a-part and piucked up a new module, no more problems. thanks for the ideas/ advice.
