98 Transport heating

Usually it take just a few minutes for the temperture for my heat to begin to warm up after I start the car. Now it take a lot longer for the temperture to rise but it warm up correctly. What do I do in order to reduce the "wait" time?

Thermostat that does not close properly would explain that....but this is rarely the actual cause. Nevertheless, it is such a non-expensive test that one should not avoid testing that option .
SInce you have normal heating after the waiting period, I would not enter the head gasket issue at that time.
I had the same complaint about my '93 when I bought it...but temperatures here are much lower, and the very poor mixture management at low temperatures kept the mixture too rich for too long. Just to mention that light aircraft engines (like Cessna) are fuel-cooled by maintaining rich mixture during climb: the unburned fuel helps cool the engine by evaporation. I fixed that annoyance by "fooling" the computer with the addition of a "temperature correction" resistor into the sender circuit.
A degradation of the O2 sensor could be a factor in your case. Are there any codes showing ?
