Hi wonder if anyone can help? Our suburban has 180000 miles and the second water pump began to leak. dealer said not a good idea to fix unless I also fixed the manifold leak. (Much more than I want to spend). Suggested I use Alumaseal or CRC copper liquid. Kragen stated these won't help the water pump. I would like your opinion. Thanks

Welcome to AF, definitely not the W/P, but it may slow down the intake, but is not recommended!

I would look around for a good repair shop.
1400 $ is way to high for intake and water pump job.
And no usually both at same time.
Check around Ask around
Word of mouth.
Family friends coworkers neighbors business people and delivery people.
Mailmen and parcel delivery people get around and notice a lot of stuff.
Even a good parts house knows what shops are good and not good.
Chamber of commerce and better business bureau and city hall.
If you find a good referral to a repair shop go look them over and talk to them.
Look for a clean looking busy place with nice people running it.
Ask a few questions and ask about their qualifications and training.
Not all places have trained tech/mechanics.
If they do not find a place that does.
Even all dealers do not have all trained techs/mechanics.

because of the vehicles age, type, and mileage your spending 1400.oo is not a good plan ..as this vehicle in todays market is probably only worth 2000.oo.........
you must replace the water pump this is required...find a good repair shop...
the intake leak if its gonna cost too much you should add bars stop leak and by adding 1/4 of the bottle at a time until the leak stops should give you time to decide on what will be your next purchase..
normally insuffecient coolant and aged coolant causes the problems you have...when coolant is added always add the correct coolant with the proper amount of clean distilled water...
