my radio

i bought a 2003 impala n it came with an after market radio a kenwood and after a while of having the radio on the radio will die as if it is not gettin enough power to it i already replaced the battery once cuz it died after the radio started acting up and the battery looked fairly new im wonderin if the radio was not hooked up right will cause it to do this and drain the battery
