i need some help we are replacing the rack & pinion on a 1988 lebaron. we have it out, now the steering wheel goes all the way around. does any one have any diagrams of the rack & pinion and steering. i have a haynes manual but it doesnt have anything about it in there . help please.

OK.. Lemme try and understand this.. do you mean you 'have had' it out and replaced it.. or.. its out and the steering whell turns around anyway because there is no rack..?? It will do as theres nothing to stop it.
OK.. lemme think.. if you 've refitted a rack and reconnected the steering and theres just a spinning steering wheel, sounds like you got a duff rack.. however.. did you make sure that the rod at the base of the steering column was pushed deep into the joint on the rack... loosen both ends of that connection and try to reposition that rod further into the joint then sinch tight.. check the wheels are inline
you can't screw it up as the steering wheel will either be in its correct position or upside down.. you can do it.. :grinyes:

I believe they have it our and can't get a new one in. Hmm. BTW, if you have an airbag (which I doubt), you just annihilated the clock spring by spinning the wheel around with no rack. I don't think you have an airbag, but you do have a horn. So get yourself a new clock spring because you just screwed it up and your horn won't work :)
