ABS-light

The abs-light (anti-locking-system) started to come on and off for a few minutes while driving but now it stays on.
Before I take it to the shop, does anyone know of some recurrent problem(s) involving this ? (wiring, sensor, ...)
Oh yes, it's a '99 5.7-V8 suburban.
Thanks

Did you pull the ABS code? Could just be a sensor that needs to be cleaned off or replaced.

No, not yet.
I did a whole lot of searching on the net to do it manually because I don't have a scanning tool.
The best I came up with were things like "Connect a jumper wire between pin "A" and pin "H"..."
But which one of the pins is A and H ??
Plus, the figure of that connector doesn't even correspond to my diagnostic connector (16 pins with numbers instead of characters :sly:).
Is it even possible to manually read trouble codes on a '99 suburban

99 Suburban is OBD2.
OBD1 you'd jumper a&b and read the codes on the SES light.
As far as I know you need a obd tool to read obd2 codes. Autozone & Murray's will let you borrow their to read the code for free.

you will need a scanner to read any codes [DTC]....ABS light at slow speeds then after a period of vehicle operation ABS light stays on I would say that the front wheel sensors need attention...also if the front wheel bearing is starting to fail metal debris will foul the sensor causing a low/no out put....could also be wiring and connectors to it or simply the metal sensor housing rusted and forced the sensor out of position...common failure....start here....... could also be abs ground on frame or computer...good luck let us know how you make out..
