and stayed on after I started my 1990 Chevy R-1500 the other day. Brake fluid is normal and braking has not changed. I have ABS on the front only. Could that be the problem? Anyone else have problems like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think its abs related if that lite isnt on.are we taking about the red lite?is it possible someone used the E-Brake & we have a stuck cable?

It is not the E-brake. When I push on the E-brake, the dash brake light gets brighter. I do not think that I have an ABS light but I will check.

Make sure brake fluid level is good.
And no brake fluid leakage front or rear or broken line underneath.
The equalizer valve front to rear will turn on brake light if there is a brake pressure lose in front or rear system.
Unplug the switch on it and see if that is the cause of light.

Fixed it!
Just disconnected the battery for about an hour and a half which reset everything.
