Climate Control Reads wrong on Outside Temp

2000 Intrigue GL, 3.5l, Dual Zone Climate Control

For a while now my climate control has been reading the wrong outside temp (way low) and has been getting worse. It doesn't fluctuate, reads pretty steady. Currently reading 11 degrees Celcius when it is actually in the high 20s.

This of course leads to the A/C compressor not coming on properly etc.

Today I changed the outside temp sensor thinking it would solve the problem....Nope.

So I guess it will be wire tracing time. Any ideas? Is there something in the circuit I need to find/check? Do the 2 wires go directly to the CC head unit? I found a connector close to the fuse/relay panel but it seemed fine. then from there it disappears into the darkness between the fuse panel and the firewall. Is there a specific temp (min/max) it reads if there is a short in the wires?

Any help or advice is appreciated.

No answer needed. I changed the sensor on my lunch break and it was reading wrong after the change. When I left work I looked down at it and it was a correct reading, Correct reading again this morning.

I have no reason for this...Must be the Climate Control Gnomes.

Temp sensors have to be "driven" to update-- they don't want it reading the hot tailpipe of a greyhound bus in front of you- so it takes time and MPH or KPH to "update" the sensors-- you can't just plug it in and expect it to read right-- so you are now good to go.…

Thanks for solving this mystery for me. I was afraid it was a short or partial wire break that moved and was (unhsorted or partially reconnected) and might move again to short or break.

Now I feel better about this correction.
