While driving on the highway the other day my check engine light came on. I had 33,350 miles. I did some research on the internet and someone else said they brought their '06' Corolla back to the dealer and it was covered. I brought my Corolla back to the dealer and it was covered but I noticed some things that disturbed me. They said that they had to replace the ECU as per TSB TC015-07. The DTC code P2716 says that it is a Pressure Control Solonoid "D" Electrical. This refers to the transmission and can cause stalling and hard shifting. I believe it is located in the valve body of the transmission. If the ECU was replaced, don't they have to disconnect the battery first in order not to damage the ECU ? Also, if you disconnect the battery, wouldn't I lose all of my radio presets ? I have had bad experiences when returning to the dealership in the past for this vehicle and also for an '01' RAV4. I won't go into the details but suffice to say that they aren't my first choice when something goes wrong.

yes they would have to disconect the batt. in order to replace the ECU...unfortunatly all presets are going to be lost. although there is a cheap device that some shops use to keep radio memory and such I dont think they can use it in this instance.
