Was anti-lock brakes standard on 04 Cavaliers or was it an option? If it was an option what's the quickest way to find out if the car does have ABS? Thanks!

Look on the inside front or rear wheel well. If it has ABS there will be a wire going to a sensor on or near the hub. If there is only a brake hose going to the wheel area then there is no ABS.

It was an option 2003-2005.
it was standard 95-02.
Guy above stated the best way to check for it. Or pop the hood and look at your proportioning valve off the master cylinder. If its just an aluminum block with 2 lines in and 4 out, you don't have it. If there electric wires running into it, you have ABS.
In this photo is without ABS....

Note the sliver proportioning valve block with just lines coming in and out.

damn, I wish that it was an option in 95-02 then maybe my 97 would have came without it! (I hate ABS on these cars)

easy way to disconnect it, unplug it from the master cylinder. Brakes are a little softer, but no abs!

Or you could just find a large gravel lot, get going, and slam on the brakes. Listen for the ABS grinding noise! Problem solved! :)

then just disconnect it, there are numerous ways to make your ABS stop working, one painfully easy way is to just remove the ABS fuse from under the hood
