FUCK!
I am seriously ready to throw this fucking piece of shit out the motherfucking window! I've owned it for 2 years and the fucking things has only shit on me since I paid WAY too much for something that is supposed to be top of the fucking line in computers.
First it was the multiple hard drive failures (4 all replaced). Then it was the ruined screen, then the failed keyboards (2), then the bad battery and charging board, then the repeatedly failing DVD drives (3) and NOW my fucking internet doesn't work a lick. It will work - maybe every other day or so. It works for about a day and then doesn't work for 2 days. It MIGHT work for 2 days and then doesn't work for a fucking week SON OF A BITCH APPLE, MAKE SOMETHING WORTH FUCKING OWNING. ALL YOUR SHITTY PRODUCT HAS DONE IS SHOWN ME JUST HOW FUCKING MUCH I HATE YOUR COMPANY AND THE COMPLETE AND UTTER GARBAGE YOU PRODUCE.
Note to everyone DO NOT purchase an Apple computer. There is a reason they have such good customer service - it's the only thing that gets people to come back. However, I will NEVER buy another piece of shit from this worthless fucking company. I don't generally swear that often anymore but this machine has seriously chapped my ass.
/end rant.

Been running Macs for years and love it. No issues except wear and tear. I own 2 of them right now and will be buying the new 3G July 11th. Sorry to hear you had so much trouble J.

I switched to Macintosh in November and I'm not having any issues.. I love not having most of my memory used-by by security applications...

Well now I am torn. My girl and I were thinking about a Mac. We decided against it when I saw the first two posts but then the next two sound good. What is one to do?

All computers are crap. Too many people waste there cash upgrading to the next big thing. Take a vacation instead and keep the ol' Tandy a couple of more years.

I don't know if they are all crap. . . I have been through a ton of crappy computers. I now have two Dells. One lap top that is about two years old that still runs perfect. And one desk top that is now about 7 years old. That thing is still going strong even though it has been hooked up to high speed internet and never had virus protection. Probably just lucky I guess but I will always go back to Dell until I have a problem.

I've always been of the mind that the average home user does not ever need a Mac.

Where as I believe the complete opposite. The average home owner does in fact need a Mac more then they need a PC. Think of it this way, what do most people use there computer for? Surfing the web, uploading photos/videos, video chatting, downloading or listening to music. The Macs allow you do this with so much ease. Macs are great for people who are not interested in programming and playing video games. They are great computers for college kids, parents and the novice user while at the same time they dominate the entertainments industry.

The only people I've heard complain about Macs are the die-hard PC users who hate Apple's OS. I've never heard of anyone have so much hardware trouble. Maybe a bad motherboard or power supply is slowly killing all of these components? After the 3rd or 4th hd failure the Apple techs should have started to suspect something else.

I love the OS, but everything else is shit. I've never had so many problems with a computer in my life.

I've had my powerbook for almost 3 years and never had any problems except self inflicted problems. By self inflicted I mean:
~dropping it out of my car onto pavement... no probs but a scratch and small dent in side.
~Spilling a large glass of water onto keyboard and charging port while plugged in. By the way this was in the middle of the night and I awoke to the smell of ozone and a weird buzzing coming from it. At first I though it was fried but after letting it dry I discovered the only thing wrong was my battery doesn't hold a charge and my sound stopped working.
I find it to be a great computer except for when I have compatability issues with games or programs. other than that its great.
Sorry to hear about your probs Swigz, maybe you got a bad egg??

Sounds like operator error likely (no offense) did you get any tech help for the Hard Drive issue? I've been using Macs for over over 18 years and it's just easier, especially now.
Seriously, Vista? does that even count as an OS or is it a test program to see if your PC will crash?

Vista is pretty stable actually.
Apple is emerging as a huge malware threat as their owners typically don't run any security software.

I love my macbook...it's light, fast, easy to use, and so far has been very reliable (in the 1st year). Mac OS is much more intuitive than Windows, and this is the first Apple product I've ever owned.

I guess you could call that one measure of success in the market place, a big enough installed base to make it worth the hackers time and the reciprocal market, security software.

You're not getting out enough  I've not had as many problems, but mine has had more failures then any of my PC boxes. Apples have a cult following that won't allow for any derogitory comments.

I am a PC guy myself. but I do photography and I couldn't be happier with my MacBook I got recently.... All companies produce lemons I suppose.

I would def have to agree here. It's a pretty hush hush thing when there is a problem. I've had just as many crashes as I do on my PC. It's not perfect. There are lots of things I wish it did that PC does and vice versa....

I remember when Apple advertised that their OS could run two whole weeks without crashing. LOL, I really miss OS\2

My biggest complaint against Vista is that it's nagware. Every time I try to do some thing it comes up with a permissions window. If I'm logged on with adminstrative privileges i don't need no stinking OS asking me if I'm sure. Just do it bitch.

just replaced my optical drive and topcase again. Optical drive started keeping CD's and making shitty noises on me and my topcase cracked because of the magnetic strip between it and the lid.
*sigh*
I'm glad I bought the extended warranty.

LOL, that was my first thought too...........
If you have the extended warranty check to see if you accidental damage coverage too, and if so drop it in back of your car and accidently drive over it.
