P1451, P0304, P0305, P0171, P0174

Man, give me a windstorm and a dead tree to park under!!! I know what all of my codes are and I know that 0171 and 0174 are probably being created due to other issues. I am having issues with the vehicle running when it gets warm. When the vehicle is cool, I have no issues yet when I drive it and the temp rises, it starts missing and when I push the accelerator to the floor, it is like I am not even getting a throttle response. My codes are EVAP solenoid, misfire on #4 and #5, bank #1 lean and bank #2 lean. With bank 1 and 2 being lean, I am getting a MAF fault.............HELP ME!!!

Have you checked the cause of the misfire codes? Lean banks 1 and 2 would not cause a MAF code, but rather a faulty MAF could cause the P0171 and P0174. Have you checked the datastream to see if you are going rich or lean when the misfires occur? If you are going lean like the P0174 might imply, that could indicate that you have fuel injector issues for cylinders 4 and 5. And keep in mind it is possible that you have more than one faulty component here. Heat can cause things like coils, MAF sensors, DPFE sensors, etc. to go open circuit (or short circuit) and stop working.

I've been working the issue but I can't get it to reproduce because it hasn't been as hot as it was the day that it malfunctioned. Now I am switching between a general EVAP code and a general Emissions code.....I am about ready to let insurance handle it lol!!!

What year Explorer are you talking here, and how many miles? Also, when is the last time you changed out the fuel filter as part of having a tune up performed (plugs and wires)?

Sometimes a no-start during hot weather, but the starter cranking the engine fine is an indication of low fuel pressure, which is often caused by a weak and failing fuel pump. Pumps typically give indications they are going out during hot days and/or when the tank is low on fuel.
