ok i have a b20 fully built pusing about 190 wheel horse and i want to be at about 300 i want to turbo it but it allready has high compression pistons so should i put in low compression or leave the high and get it tuned for about 12 -14 psi

You shouldn't need to boost to 12-14 psi if you keep it high compression. With higher compression, you don't need to boost as much to make the same hp as a car with lower compression. In fact, forget about the whole psi thing all together, it means nothing. 12psi on 1 turbo is completely different to 12psi with another turbo. Check how healthy you engine is (compression & leakdown test) and decide from there.

Well, if you're already beating him there's not much you should have to do to stomp him. You could just do some head work (a mild P&P, cams w/valvetrain), or put a vtec head on there (with head work); if you don't have any of that done yet. Obviously that's not going to get you near 300whp, but it'd be cheaper than going turbo,
But there's nothing wrong at all with boosting it. Heck, if you just wanted a little more power, you could find a small used DSM turbo and build your own kit. That way it would boost quickly, giving you more torque, and wouldn't cost you an arm and a leg. Whatever you do just make sure you get a good engine management system, if you don't have one already, and get it tuned right. If you're not going to get it tuned with a real EMS, then boosting it would definitely be out of the question.

well if i replace the head and vtec its alot of work and not cheap at all its completely rebuilt from injectors all the way to cams and all so i kinda just think theres not much else other than a turbo
