Where is the starter located on an 1999 intrigue with a 3.5 liter engine and how hard is it to change? Any help will be appreciated

The starter is under the car... obviously... if your under the car its on the left hand side towards the front of the engine. Its pretty easy the get if off once youve done it.
Your going to want to unhook the battery first.
There ar two bolts holding the starter on, unbolt it.
Take the end of the starter w/o the wires and push it up into the engine block so the wires are facing towards you.
Your going to need a small open end wrench to unhook the wiring. This the biggest pain in the butt of the whole job, is getting the nuts on and off the hold on the wires.
The first time is a pain but after you figure it out its really easy.
Hope that helps.

You will also need a good, reliable way of getting the car a decent distance off the ground, and supporting it properly once its there. If you have a set of ramps this might be the time to use them.
You can use a jackstand on each side of the car, but I would just barely have room to mess with the starter using that approach, Im pretty skinny and I felt cramped when I was exploring under the car.
Whatever you do, double and triple check it, and maybe add an extra jack or two for backup. Youll be laying with pretty much everything from the waist up underneath an Oldsmobile, you dont want any problems eh?
