I love my 2003 Chevy Venture mini-van, but last week, my ABS light came on and won't go off. I've looked all through the owner's manual but can't find what the problem might be (and what's worse, how much $ it's going to cost!). Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

You need to have your codes read to find out what the problem is. In other words, do some diagnostics. Not one person in here will have the slightest clue what your problem could be, simply by saying "my light is on". It could be something as simple as a connection on a wheel speed sensor, or something much more. The possbilities are endless. Take it to a shop, pay the $40-$50 to have the codes read and have them give you the results including the error codes. Having the problem diagnosed does not obligate you to have repairs done there. My suggestion would be to call around to some local shops and find the best deal for having the ABS codes read. Do that and report back your finding here and then perhaps someone can help you. Good Luck.

Don't they do that for you at Advance auto and autozone for free?
You need to find the codes and go from there.

Do your rear brake lights (all 3) work when brake is pressed. If not, you have the infamous short in the ground wire from the rear harness to your rear circuit bd supposedly weatherproof connection going to the taillight assembly. If this is the case, unfortunately many posters on this site can direct you with the repair. You can also look it up and look for my tag"cjstew4" where I have offered up a few recommendations. Good luck.

Many Autozones, especially the ones in my area do not have the capability to scan for ABS codes, just the engine codes.
