I am puzzled.. 97 Tranny (?) issues

I have never had a truck (Or car) do this to me in my life. I am puzzled and trying to see if anyone else has ran across this.

I was driving along and my Suburban (97 1500 LT) was driving 100% just fine.

I stopped at a light and when it turned green it felt like my wheels were spinning in gravel but they weren't. I backed off the gas and at about 30-35 mph. It started fluttering and revving. I pulled over at a safe stop. (I was driving PA back country roads at the time.) I put it in park. When I went to put it in gear again I had nada. I shut it off. Made a few calls to my husband and to my friend whose house I was on the way to. I turned it back on. And I got my gears back. Tried to limp home and it did it again. Hubby came to rescue me. I had hubby drive it to the closest garage (luckily it was really close.) It did the same thing for him and also for the mechanic. They said it can be one of about 5 things. The only fault code was for the oxygen sensor. One of the rear ones is bad. I don't think that would cause the issues I am having.

I am wondering if anyone has had or known anyone whose Suburban has had this issue? And what caused it and how much this is going to hurt?

The tranny gets power thru the ignition switch, when the switch goes bad, the tranny does not get 12 volts and it will shift funny.

Someone should check to see that the tranny is receiving full electrical power.

Ok the verdict is in... There was debris in my tranny fluid that was screwing up my solenoids. It is running fine now but after $3K in repairs in a year I think it is time for it to go.
