how do you replace the drain tube on the front driver side on a 2001 Grand Am GT? mine is broke at the bottome of the line causing water to come by the hood latch lever!

You will need to pull the fender possibly, the door ...

If you can cut out the bad section and splice in a new line using a coupler(small piece of pipe) on the outside or inside the line.

My 99 GT leaked at the top where it was painted... Much easier to get too at the top.

is there a clamp holding the bottom of the tube to anything or can i just take out the sunroof and undo the hose and pull it straight out?...if there is a clamp at the bottom what does it connect the hose to?

its not clamped to anything.
The hose just slips over a tube at the top, and on the bottom it goes into this rubber drain gromitt......

....so you might be able to acess it from under the dash.

These drains are put in pre paint so they are burried and are not easy to install, they go inside the pillars.

Also sounds like your sun roof gasket(around the perimeter) is leaking, you can buy a replacement from the stealership for around $100.

Hope that helps.

well i figured it out and it wasnt too bad to get out...you just got to take your time and everything slowly came out.....it wasnt even the tube that was leaking!!! a while back i cut the gromet for the drivers door wires to have a place to run my power wire for my stereo system and for my strobelight wires. it was running out of the drain gromet down onto my wires and the water was following the wires into the cabin and slowly soaking my carpet.....so basically im a jackass!!!

Glad to hear you fixed it easily.

Yeah mine leaked from the top and ran down onto my fuse boxes, and toasted a couple BCM's.
It was also puddling by the hood release on the floor.

These are some leakers anyway... :shakehead
