should there be pressure in fuel line when truck isnt running . changed fuel filter and there was no pressure in lines this is a throttle body injected engine . 88 sub 454

Yes there should be fuel pressure in the lines, even if the engine is not running. Fuel pressure should be 9-13 psi. Sounds like the check valve is leaking in the fuel pump.

On my 90 K1500 with 5.7, there is never pressure in the line when I shut the engine off. I have verified this with a fuel pressure gauge. It has been this way since I bought the truck brand new 18 years ago.

I stand corrected 2000CAYUKON, I should have done more research before answering. According to the online manual at the Olpin site:
Quote- The 220 TBI unit has a bleed in the pressure regulator to relieve pressure anytime the engine is shut off.

No worries tempfixit. The TBIs are very different from the Vortec engines and I happen to have owned one for quite a while.

truck runs fine just got back from 200 mile trip towing camper no problems thanks guys
