95 suburban stalled and won't turn over

I have a little problem. I have a 1995 Suburban, 454 3/4 ton 4x4.
I was driving and it stalled and and now won't turn over. Batt. good, Starter will turn over by shorting it out (won't start), lights interrior and exterior work, dash lights and radio work. Gages and shift indicator do not work. When I turn the key to start the radio goes out as it should, but nothing else happens (lights don't dim). I do not hear the fuel pump. I have power to and through my under hood fuse pannel and have checked all fuses.

I have just replaced ignition switch (nothing changed). My next step is the nutural safty switch. Does anyone have any thoughs?.... My understanding is there are no fusable links on this thing, just fuses (all are ok).

Here are some things that have been happening that may or may not be part of the problem.

Once in a while when cold the it would stall when changing gears from park to drive but start right up again. Happening over the last 3 months.

7 days before "the stall" I would try to start the suburban, but nothing would happen when I turned the key, the second time I turned the key it started every time. (That I thought was the ignition switch or starter).

Over the last 3 months or so the truck stalled on me while driving 5 times, after 5 to 10 seconds it started right back up.


Well I have been trying to track down the problem over the last while, but I guess not I have run out of time. If anyone has any thoughts I would like to hear them. I will be working the the nutural safty switch this weekend.

Get a repair manual with wiring diagrams. I would bet the "neutral safety switch" is not the problem. All it does is cut power to the exciter wire on the starter. If it was bad, you would have guages and gear position indicators, the fuel pump would run, and nothing would not work except for the starter (and when jumping (not shorting) the starter, it would start and run).

I would first check the ignition switch. Make sure the connector is tight, clean, and not burnt. Also make sure the rod is in the slot and that it moves when you turn the key.

The problem is fixed... As I was going through my testing I found that the problem was in my Ignition "A" circuit. I was getting power to the fuse and out of the fuse but nothing back from the key to my ignition and computer fuses under the hood. The fix was stupid, the wiring harness between the fire wall was loose. It felt good when I tugged on it but the bolt wasn’t tight not giving a solid connection.
