Suburban is acting strange

I had a problem with my '93 k2500 (454) Sub that ended up being the ignition control module. I thought my problems were fixed. I have not driven it in a while, so I jumped the battery. It started right up, and idled fine. But while sitting in the drivers seat, I hit the power door lock button, and the dash gauges (speedo, tach, etc) jumped around. I did it again, as well as turning the fan on, radio, etc, and they all had the same effect on the gauges. Does it sound like a short? Is it just a weak battery? The volts are showing 14v. I'm worried about driving it now. I shut it off, and could not start it again. Dead battery. Could it be a weak ground. I hate dealing with electrical problems, and it's not my specialty. I'm looking for a sarting point or someone who's had a similar problem, or help me diagnose this one.
Thanks
Thanks

Put your battery on the charger over night. A dead battery should charge for at least 12 good hours.
If it dies again, do a load test on the battery and also have the alternator checked.
What you are seeing is the power from the alternator trying to keep up with the loads your manually applying.
And yes, that would tell me the alt. is charging so do the above tests and see what happens.
I'ld put a dime on it being a bad battery

That would cause the gauges to bounce around?
The bad (or good for warranty) thing is that is the second battery (Exide from wallyworld) to die in the last 6 mos or so.

I know this thread is old, but I wanted to say for those interested and perhaps searching. This is exactly what I just read in an online manual. I have a 95 and this has caused me to wonder in the past. I just read also that this is more apparent if your battery isnt new.

It turned out that both the alternator and battery were bad. The alternator would charge the battery, but it also had a short.
