Who makes the best OBD II scan tool out there? Any reviews before I buy one?

Thanks

The OTC Genisys is by far the best I've ever seen/used/heard of. They're only a couple thousand dollars... so... is price an issue for your decision?

Uhhh, yea, dumb me. Guess I should have been a little more precise in my question. Much as I would like to have the very best, price IS a consideration. I was thinking somewhere around $200 or $300.

OTC makes junk and one reason why:SPX Corperation.SPX does not stand behind their equipment at all and erases a customer's info.Mastertech 3100,made by Vetronix makes the best scan tool and ahead of OTC on the new stuff. It goes for about $3600.00 for their scan tool.

We've never had a problem with ours. We have two right now. We had three, but the 25 pin connector on top got a bent pin in it. It went out for repairs and has since disappeared, I didn't pay for it, so I didn't ask where it went. The local company we bought ours from stands behind what they sell, so that wasn't an issue.

I think your $3,600 is a bit over $200-300. :)

Tinman, you're probably looking for a code reader, scan tools (with datastreams, test mode, record capability, etc.) are usually much more.

Once again, I stand corrected. I am looking for a code reader. Love to have scan tool, but those prices are out of my range. I am not a shop, just one guy who works on some cars and trucks here and there.
