On my 99 suburban, From the cats my exhaust runs 2 3/4" I think, Maybe 2 1/2"? Anywho! The muffler that was installed is a 3" It looks really ugly where it's connected as there's alotta weld to make up the size difference.
My question is, Will this cause any performance issues?
So, basically my pipe goes from 2 and something to a 3" muffler back to a 2 and something tail pipe ( same as the rest of the pipe )

the muffler inlet to pipe size difference may make it a bit quieter than normal, but shouldn't affect performance. as far as crappy welds, that just sounds like crappy work. if it is sealed, then should be ok, but if it leaks would get it fixed right away for safety. they should have used a freaking adapter, welded that onto the muffler, and welded that to pipe.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure performance/MPG wasn't an issue! =)
Yea, It just looks ugly.. There's like three layers of welds.. NO idea what they were thinking... As for leaks.. All sounds good... Don't see any missed spots or anything around it! Thanks for the reply!
