Tata Motors Ltd, unveiled the world's cheapest car named Tata nano on Thursday creating a history in the car market for low income group.
The 4-seater Nano, will have a dealer price of 100,000 rupees (about US $2,500 at about Rs 40 per USD). The Tata nano is expected to go on sale later this year. On the top of the dealer price, the consumer will have to pay the taxes and the freight charges in addition to the dealer's margin. This will substantially increase the car price but is still expected to be 60% of the price of the cheapest car on today's market, a 25-year old model from rival Maruti Suzuki .
The compact but curvy Nano is smaller than the Rival Maruti 800 but has a bigger inner space. The nano has an engine 623 cc,
