I have a carb'd 87 Civic DX Hatchback, 5 spd, running on three cylinders, I'd like to replace it with a fuel Injected 4-banger. What are my options that will be plug-n-play?
Thank you......

The closest thing to plug and play would be an 85-87 SI motor since it will drop right in and bolt up to your tranny. The only issues will be the fuel pump, fuel lines, ECU and wiring.

The next option will be a D16A1 swap from an 86-89 Integra. For this swap you will also need the D16A1 tranny, steering knuckles, shift linkage and axles, but the motor and tranny will bolt right in. Again, you will need to rewire the car and modify the fuel system.

Then there is always a B-series swap. This will require a motor mount kit, wiring, ECU, B-series motor/tranny, custom axles, etc.

lxndr,
Thank you very much for your reply to my post. It seems that even the most ideal swap (85-87 SI motor) may result in minor complications. Due to the fact that I need this as a Daily Driver, I am not mechanically comfortable enough to tackle this at this time. I will look for another 1987 Civic Motor to avoid additional Fab/Mod work. This 87 Civic is one of three vehicles I own, and only one is fully functional at this time. I am new to this forum as you may have noticed, I have to say, I am impressed by the immediate reply and the vast knowledge pertaining to my question. I will be posting another question today regarding my non-functional 1993 Explorer XLT 4X4. If you can either, provide information to assist in the repair or send someone in my direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you very much for your time,
Anthony,
