After doing online research for a used car, the Corolla or Honda Accord would be a good bet for me. I am leaning toward the Corolla as it seems to have not only a good track record but great gas mileage. I had to rent a 2006 Corolla last year which was great, but I can only look at years 2000 thru 2004 that may fit in my budget. Any advice would be appreciated as I can't afford to make a poor decision. Thanks!

Hi.Go with the Corolla!! They have a good reliable record and are easy to maintane. I own a 1997 Corolla with the 3 speed auto,(wished it was the 5 speed stick!!).Anyway I get decent fuel miles,30 to 34 mpg. Only thing that went bad in my car was the starter motor. I have 131500 miles on my car,and plan driving it until the bumpers fall off!!. Have a Happy New Year!!.Diesel 1962 (Happy Toyota Owner)

Well i will tell you that I drove a 2007 Honda Civic and I didnt like it at all. I think that Honda's are a little over priced. I now own a 2007 Corolla LE, I love it alot. we get about 30MPG in town and it has pretty good pick up for being only a 1.8L. I always thought that Toyotas were expensive but I found out that they really arnt too bad. mine was 18000 with 2 miles on it. I would look for a certified used car. Although I have never worked on my car it looks like it would be really easy though. hope you make the right choice and go with the toyota!

Don't waste another minute thinking of it and go with the Toyota Corolla. I bought a new Corolla in 96 (5 speed stick) and never had ANY problems (over 200 000 kms on it). My 03 Honda Ody has been nothing but trouble..... In my personal opinion, Toyota is also a more responsible manufacturer in that they have kept pushing their hybrid technology in several models while Honda has stopped their Hybrid Accord - but I digress.... if you're looking for a great vehicle and very reliable go with Toyota....

The Corolla engines are junk and I know an auto salvage owner that has a list of people wanting one of those engines, about $1,500.00 for an used engine. The engines are hard to come by.

I have a 2001 Corolla S 5 speed manual and it has 146,000 miles on it. I have had to do very little repairs to it. It gets great gas mileage. I have to get a new clutch but with 146k that does not concern me. Great car.
