Merry Christmas everyone! I have a 1999 burb. The transmission failed yesterday. My question is can I install a 4l80E in place of my failed 4l60E? Thought it might be a good time to upgrade the transmission since i have to take it out regardless. Thanks for the help!

It would take a lot of changing.
Starting with the computers and wiring and drive shafts and crossmember and transfer case to if a 4W
4W or 2 wheel?
How many miles on it?
What failed on the 4L60E?

It 4x4 with about 120,000 miles. Sounds like a gear set has failed. The vehcile still moves forward but when in reverse grinds as if teeth are missing on a gear. Sound like a will have to stick with the 4l60E. Thanks for the help.

The flexplate is differant also,6 torque converter bolt holes. You might have a bad cooler and check this too.Blow through one of the lines for this.If it has a bad cooler, you have to replace the radatior or bypass is with a transmission cooler
